Eisenrot is a ***tett, but when you take into account the instrumentation (two trombones, two doublebasses and two drumsets), it’s far more than that. Depending on the perspective, this band consists of two trios, three duos and countless other constellations. Even masters like John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman were aware of the limitations which restricted their expressive spectra beside all virtuosity. Both used to double single positons or even the complete ensemble.

John Hughes (born 1972), is an American doublebassist currently residing in Hamburg. John's musical focus deals with improvisation, composition, and the study and amalgamation of the music of various composers, musicians, and cultures.
Through years of research and hard work, John has developed a highly personal musical vocabulary.
